The Elddis Supreme 462 is based on the Elddis Avante 462; it’s loaded with extra spec as a dealer special
Typical tow car: Kia Optima
Layout: Front end dinette, side kitchen, side dresser and end washroom with shower cubicle
Pros: Dealer special so lots of kit, large end washroom, spacious lounge.
Cons: Upholstery can loose its shape, black enamel hand basin scratches easy, circular shower cubicle could be tight for some.
Look out for: Cracking front gas locker lid, water ingress over front windows, and creaking floors.
Extra equipment? Good spec for the cost, may find an extra mains socket added or replacement TV aerial.
Front lounge is large and also offers plenty of roof locker storage and LED corner spot lights
Jenkinson’s opinion:
This Supreme is basically an Elddis Avante, but with the spec of the Elddis Affinity. Made for Preston Caravans and Motorhomes big Elddis dealers, the Supremes have been around now for a few years. It’s fair to say that they are one of the most popular dealer specials currently around. Built using the Elddis Solid construction system, the Supreme from 2014 offers a better build and also offers some great extras. The exterior of the 462 offers a wet locker and also an exterior mains and BBQ point. Chassis was BPW with IDC, a device to help stability along with the Winterhoff hitch stabiliser.
Whale blown heating is fitted, which is good but a Truma unit, I feel is a better option. The large front lounge also offers twin single beds or makes into a massive double using slats to fill the gap. There’s also a decent central chest of drawers and excellent overhead storage lockers and a central dresser unit, with well placed microwave. Excellent side kitchen offers great worktop as well as oven and Dometic fridge. End washroom offers plenty of room though corner shower cubicle could be small for some.
Side kitchen has excellent worktop – do check the enamel sink finish for bad scratching
How to find a good one
Supremes turn up on most dealers’ forecourts but Preston’s do seem to get a few coming back in as people trade in for a newer version. The 462 will also appear in private sales and I say do these checks. Look at the front gas locker for cracking or even around the edge of the front panel. Also check for any signs of water ingress above the front windows. Check the floor, the one I went into had a distinctive creaking around the kitchen area.
Upholstery is generally good; it’s been up rated from the standard Avante range
Private sales are at present very little difference in prices to what you will pay at a dealership, I would plump for the dealer option as there will be some after sales support. There are other dealer based Elddis Avante’s around but you may have to look hard. The Supreme is worth looking for in the 462 end washroom model, but do the checks and ask for any other info on your chosen Supreme. I would recommend changing the Avtex stick TV aerial as it’s just poor for general reception.
End washroom is of a good size though some may find the circular shower cubicle isn’t very big.
