Jenkinson’s opinion: The Elddis Xplore range is an unsung hero, why? Because it often gets overlooked with Sprite and Bailey’s offerings, and although rather plain in looks this range offers superb value. It is light in weight and the 586 we have here is a top choice in my books. It offers six berths with side fixed bunks and a washroom that’s good in space, spec and yet its in an entry level model. The 2017 586 offers a front dinette area with chest of drawers also its got decent overhead storage lockers too. The seating is one of the best in class offering excellent support even several years on of use. Large front window allows good vision plus it opens to.
Side kitchen offers fridge, oven/grill and three burner hob and excellent storage too
The side kitchen is well equipped and also comes with good storage and also a side dinette offers more seating and sleeping. The rear side fixed bunks each have their own side window to. The corner rear washroom is excellent with good shower cubicle, storage and ventilation plus it also has Thetford cassette loo. Heating is via the Whale blown system which is good and also has quick water heat up to. Night lighting is also very good with integral ceiling LED lights. This is a tourer that really offers decent build (using Elddis Solid construction) and basically a robust tourer for a family.
Rear of the Xplore offers a side fixed bunks, great washroom and side dinette with fold up bunk-check its ok!
How to find a good one
Well we reckon bagging one before it’s sold may prove a job in this current sales climate, the 586 is a superb buy and those in the market for such a van know it. We say do look at Elddis dealers for part ex’s but also we found one private but to be honest price wasn’t cheap so a dealer with some back up at least is a good place to go. The 586 can also be sourced via looking at dealers web sites to but the fact is we usually say stick to a local dealer if possible especially for warranty work to be carried out.
Simple design this family tourer does what it says on the tin, do the checks though don’t take things for granted in any way. It may not have a sunroof as many but this means you get extra front roof locker storage so it’s not all bad! Great buy – go and track one down!
Corner rear washroom offers circular shower cubicle and also great storage and floor area and a side window no less!
